The Clear Lake area includes both Harris and Galveston counties. There are a number of distinct communities, which distinguish the area:
- Clear Lake City
- Clear Lake Shores
- El Lago
- Nassau Bay
- Taylor Lake Village
Home to NASA, Clear Lake City was one of the Houston area’s first master-planned communities. It was later divided into distinct cities and communities.
Clear Lake Shores is an island community with a small town feel. Home to 4 major marinas, as well as the long-awaited Jarboe Bayou Project, which
will be a major bird sanctuary and habitat for animals. The community has many wonderful walking paths and fishing piers for the community to enjoy.
El Lago was the one-time home to Jean Lafitte and his pirates, and it’s kept it eclectic charm. Located on Taylor Lake, it’s close to NASA and is home to several astronauts.
Kemah is a quaint little seaside community of less than 2,000 residents. It boasts some wonderfully eclectic shops, walking paths, and the always- bustling Kemah Boardwalk, a collection of themed restaurants, retail shops, water gardens and amusements for the whole family.
Nassau Bay is located directly across from NASA, and is home to Christus-St. John Hopsital. Nassau bay also has fantastic festivals, dining, and shopping venues.
Seabrook is located right on Galveston Bay, and is a gorgeous waterfront community. Community members enjoy watching the Pelicans on the Texas Birding Trail, and shopping in “Old Seabrook”. Seabrook also has an amazing open air market that occurs monthly.
Taylor Lake Village is located next to El Lago, and is a quiet residential community that is located close to NASA, shopping, and dining.
Webster is home to gorgeous neighborhoods, as well as Baybrook Mall. Webster is considered the “gateway” to the Bay Area as it is located directly off 1-45, which makes it an ideal community for commuters.
